Vivian-HuangI Am A Chinese American Physician living in New York City. In 2013, I worked with Doctors without Borders and went on a Medical mission to Syria.

Being Chinese-American has always been a struggle for me, Always Straddling on the verge of two cultures, Am I American or Chinese? And When you travel out of the country, that confusion stares you in the face.

The people of syria were accepting of my identity. they did not question my bicultural identity. They just accepted me as an american doctor and were extremely happy that i was there to try to help.

And because of their acceptance of me, it helped me to continue my own self validation process. I am both american and chinese.
