MY Grandfather (Cheng Ti Sui) Was one Of The First Chinese to Arrive in the United States he worked on the merchant ships as a cook and the railroads. I was told he was one of the hardest working men in the world he opened one of The First Chinese restaurants in Philadelphia. At home he would cook my father Cantonese oxtail and Cantonese lobster. He Married my grandmother Who Was Of mixed Raced women black/Irish/Chinese. This is one of the only pictures our family has of him because of a fire in one of the restaurants they lived above. Growing up we were always taught to be proud of who we are even if we were one of the only mixed race families in our neighborhood he stressed the importance of education to my father and the importance to learn Chinese.
