In 1937 while my mother was taking a part of the family on a trip in Peking, during summer vacation, the incident of Marco Polo Bridge broke out suddenly. Right after we had rushed home, the war between China and Japan started in Tientsin. Life gave me an unexpected slant in 1938. My mother did all she could to enable me to seek a happier future. I was sent abroad to America, and studied in the School of Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. I stayed with my guardian, whose typical Yankee family were happy and friendly. The country’s beauty, culture, and industries were magnificent wonders.>> Back to Many Faces
